Cookie Policy

Last updated: 2026-05-09

candio.net uses cookies sparingly, and only after you consent. This policy explains what cookies we use, why we use them, and your rights over them. Under GDPR and PECR, we only load analytics cookies if you explicitly accept them on the banner below.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that websites store on your device (computer, phone, or tablet) to remember information about you. They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently and to provide information to site owners. There are two main types: session cookies (deleted when you close your browser) and persistent cookies (stored for a set time).

Strictly necessary cookies

These cookies are essential for the site to function and remember your cookie consent choice. They are not tracking cookies and do not require your consent under GDPR. The 'cc' cookie is set automatically when you interact with our consent banner. Without it, we would be unable to remember your preference and would re-prompt you on every visit.

Analytics cookies (only with your consent)

Analytics cookies are only loaded by Google Analytics 4 after you click 'Accept' on the banner. These cookies help us understand how visitors use candio.net — which pages are most read, how long you stay, and where you come from. This information helps us improve the site. You must explicitly consent before these are loaded. If you reject consent, no analytics cookies are set.

No advertising or third-party tracking

candio.net does not use advertising cookies, social media pixels, or third-party tracking services. We do not sell data to advertisers or share your information with marketing brokers. Only Turnstile (Cloudflare's CAPTCHA) and Resend (for newsletter confirmations) are third-party services, and they are used only to verify form submissions and send transactional emails.

Your control over cookies

You have complete control over cookies. The consent banner on candio.net allows you to Accept or Reject analytics cookies. If you Reject, no analytics cookies are set. Your choice is saved in the 'cc' cookie (which does not require consent under GDPR) and remembered for 180 days. To change your mind, click 'Cookie preferences' in the footer anytime. You can also clear all cookies from your browser settings at any time, or use browser privacy modes that block all cookies. Consent expires after 180 days and we will re-prompt you when you return.

Global Privacy Control (GPC)

If your browser or device sends the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we honor it by treating your request as a rejection of analytics cookies, regardless of the banner choice. This browser-level preference allows you to opt out of data sharing and selling across all participating websites. You can enable GPC in browser extensions like 'Global Privacy Control' or in privacy-focused browsers like Brave.

Third-party services and their privacy policies

candio.net uses the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy and data handling practices: • Google Analytics 4 (analytics cookies): Used only if you consent. Google's privacy policy is available at https://policies.google.com/privacy — it explains how Google processes data, your rights, and how to request deletion. • Cloudflare Turnstile (form verification): Used to verify that form submissions (newsletter subscribe, comments, contact) are human-made and not automated spam. Turnstile is a CAPTCHA alternative that does not store identifying data. • Resend (transactional email): Used to send newsletter confirmation emails. Your email is only used for the confirmation message and is never sold or shared for marketing. For Turnstile and Resend, privacy policies can be found at https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/ and https://resend.com/privacy respectively.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to how we use cookies, we will update the 'Last updated' date above and re-display the consent banner to all visitors so you can review and confirm your preferences. Minor updates (clarifications, link fixes) may not trigger re-prompting. We recommend reviewing this policy periodically.
